So, what did you do last summer?
Enjoyed your precious little beach? That's great. Got a nice tan? You look wonderful. Ate 500 hot dogs? Of course not.
That's because you didn't spend your summer riding around the country in a really cool-looking van, searching for hot dog stands, hot dog carts, hot dog bikes, hot dog stickers, even hot dog mascots...
You also didn't interview Art Donovan, former Baltimore Colts football star and hot dog lover, nor did you enter the Nathan's National Hot Dog Eating Contest on Coney Island -- scarfing down 9 hot dogs in 12 minutes, we might add. And you sure as heck didn't film the entire summer as part of your very own hot dog documentary.
Nope, you just sat on a beach and stared at millions of gallons of water. And little kids digging in the sand, spitting on each other.
Don't fret. With the passing of time comes your chance to out-and-out lie by telling friends and family what you really did over the hot humid months of 1998: traveled cross-country with your buddies, Chris and Gerry.
So look through some behind-the-scenes photos of the trip, make up a few stories (how you saved Gerry from the throes of an angry Illinois hair dresser is always a good one), and just feel positive about yourself. Because you've earned it.
After all, not everyone ate 500 hot dogs last summer.
